Would it be okay to slip a deployed soldier into the mix? I know he would send it on and include photos! I could post them for him.

Aw, that'd be lovely.

Awww, excellent idea!

Thank you! This is his fifth or sixth deployment with the Nat'l Guard and I have written him through the past 2!

Wyozozo, do you just want to send it to him after you get it or would you like a random person to send it to him?

I think I would send said token with Stanley so the next person gets a bit of a goodie! A keychain or window sticker would add very little weight to the envelope. Bumper stickers would work too!

I agree! I'm looking forward to finding an interesting trinket to send.

What have you got? Is it food? Is it for me? I want it whatever it is!

I can send it to him and enclose an address for him to send it to.

Might I suggest tumblr.com for a Flat Stanley (Flat Emily?) travel "blog"?  We could start a page that would get the web address [ourpage].tumblr.com, and it's essentially a very simplified blog format that would be very easy to use even for people who have never blogged before.  We could share the username and password along with Flat Stanley (write it on his/her back?) so whoever has it can upload a picture or video and a little blurb about where the picture was taken.  We wouldn't need a central webmaster that way, and everyone could track Flat Stanley's progress as he/she traveled  :)

ETA: steps to post something to tumblr:

1) Go to the site
2) Log in
3) Click the giant "photo" button  at the top of the page
4) Upload the photo (plus text, if you want)
5) Voila, it's on the blog!

I'm a bit confused now. Are we planning on doing the snail-mail version, then posting the pics on the Web, or are we planning on doing a snail-mail version and a strictly online version also?

And is Flat Stanley likely to fit into a standard size US post office box?

Yeah, we're going to do the snail mail, but people who want to just print out their own and post pictures and not bother with the postal service can do that as well. I don't know if we'll set up a tumbler blog like Slartibartfast suggested, but all the pics will be posted in the same place.

And our Flat Person will definitely fit in a US post box, no question.  :)

Great idea.  Once we settle on our mascot we can use that as a username for the blog posting.

I think this is a great idea. We can always bump the thread on here when the blog is updated so anyone interested can have a peek.

Knowing the Atlanta eHellions, Flat Stanley will be pictured next to many glasses of wine :)  I have no artistic talent, but a Flat Dresser Queen might also be a fun one - she must travel with a flat dresser & each participating eHellion with a dresser must also submit a pic of her with their own dresser   >:D
