I'm glad your son's recovery is going well.

Too bad it coincided with visits from family clods.
I'm away from sanity right now...please leave a message after the beep.

I'm glad to hear your son is recovering well.

Your DH's family sound awful. I think your DH is right that someone else should host them next year.

Oh, and if your BIL is so horrified by properly cooked prime rib, I'll be delighted to take his share!

Wow. Can you say "sabotage"?

Any chance you can change your phone number, change your name, and move to another continent?

Glad your son is doing well. Your DH is right someone else can host next year, and BIL is an idiot. Please tell your youngest DS to never eat anything SMIL offers without checking with you or his Dad. She knows full that butter is made from milk - its in the dairy section. Sounds like one of those allergies are all in your head control freaks.

I've started to take a copy of the recipe any time I take something to a party (requested) outside of the immediate family (those issues I know). I give it to the hostess and she can answer any questions.

Your son sounds like one heckuva kid, I hope when I finally get my RN I'm lucky enough to have patients who cut up with us in recovery!
I have to compliment your DH for not allowing his family to put their crap on you. He handled himself admirably.
His family is awful. I think that I would let them have their own holiday and apend my day with the phone off the hook!
I have finally found the bar I can't get thrown out of....

Happy your little guy is doing well!

butter isn't made from milk? <shakes head> sounds like the time my friends BIL told him that FLOUR wasn't made from wheat.

They also have a kid in their family that is allergic (very) to red food dye. By the time he was in grade school he knew not to eat anything red.  Teacher in the Cafeteria saw that he had not "cleaned his plate" (block of red jello) and made him sit down and eat it despite his protests (and his allergy was in his records) short story he ended up in the ER because of it.

His Mom told him that from then on if they tried to make him eat something he shouldn't to pick it up and throw it on the floor.  That she would rather bail him out of the office than the ER.

He had to do it more than once before the school "got it"

Off topic here but really who thinks that not eating jello is the same as not eating all your lunch.  It's nothing food and certainly not a budget breaker if it goes uneaten on a few kids plates.

As for the OP's inlaws they sound like the kind of people who are only happy when they have something to complain about.  I'm glad her dh decided to leave the entertaining of them to someone else.

So glad your son is doing well!

My jaw is still hanging. They never called to see how your son's surgery went?
Can your family go on vacation for Christmas next year? To someplace far, far away?
You and your hubby are saints to put up with these people!

I'm glad your son's surgery went well. ;D

Your in-laws sound very selfish and self centred. :(  Good on you and your DH for not  reacting to their nonsense, and standing your ground when needed. ;)

Anyone who turns down perfectly cooked prime rib without being a strict vegan or ALLERGIC to beef needs to be cut from the guest list permanently.

Prime rib is BETTER than steak - speaking as someone who had prime rib two days ago after the husband grilled it over a charcoal fire..............it was just the way our family loves it.  As there was NONE left, I know it had to have been perfect!

If the BIL shows up again, may I suggest cold oatmeal porridge for his dinner??????

That's a pretty sensible solution. I don't really condone throwing food on the floor, but it's no more rude or harmful than an uninformed adult trying to make a child eat something that's bad for him.

Your son sounds like a great kid. I'm so glad to hear that he is recovering well.

Your in-laws sound like a reason for self-medication, by any form available. You were more than gracious to them.

Glad to hear your son is doing ok! :)

...and as to the family? Holy cow! Glad it is over with. Sounds like FIL & BIL not talking to you is a blessing!
