I'm just trying to figure out why on EARTH someone would pay that much for one... Considering that you can get one directly from Apple for less than $850. The winning bidder and seller must know each other, and have planned this as some sort of publicity stunt. That is the only thing I can think of.

It might end badly for the seller, though.  My sister's boyfriend once sold a broken game console--he specified clearly in the description that it was broken, and that he was selling it to anyone who might want to try to fix it--and the buyer complained because it was...wait for it...broken.  Ebay made my sister's boyfriend refund the money.

I think the buyer will be able to get a refund with no problem:

If you look at the description it lists Connectivity as Wi-fi + 3G and the Color as black.

The box is not black, and I'm pretty sure a piece of cardboard and a paper manual have no connectivity at all.

If you're going to try to scam someone, make sure you have all your ducks in a row  :P
