“There are some basic, fundamental rules to life and personal relationships- and that the poised will someday be victorious over the tacky heathens of the world!”
Cute parody. The profanity was rather surprising. Still, I can’t help but to agree with the message. We have forgotten the art of conversation that last longer that a headline.
Hilarious! I love their use of larger, old-fashioned, ungainly telephones – really highlights the absurdity.
My oldest daughter has a phone now, and I’m sure her sister won’t be far behind. Whenever we all sit down together I try to set a good example by not looking at my phone, only to look over and see my husband on his phone. I usually look over at my daughter and say, loud enough for my husband to hear, “Oh my dear darling daughter, I am so glad that we are able to gaze into each other’s eyes and talk to each other rather than playing on our phones!” My husband usually gets the message and puts his phone away.

Haha nice. If they didn’t have the unnecessary cussing I’d share that around.

That was hilarious, but strange that the woman was so angry about everyone using their telephones at the table, while no one called out the father on his use of obscenities.

I’ve seen this before – LOVE it! A good reminder to all of us. Even those of us who take etiquette seriously probably are guilty of this sometimes.

Never thought I would see the day when a College Humor sketch ended up on Etiquette Hell. Loved it! Thanks for sharing! 🙂

I read 8 replies. The profanity sort of underlies I’m the lord of the house and I shall do as I please and be BOTHERED that I must cowtow… oh very well, HERE. (too important to, but giving in because and too manly to toss a full hissyfit)
Anyways. I caved and my DH has joined the modern age (from cheap disposaphone to new high tech iToy) and I’m going to blindfold him yet. He’s gone ‘new-toy-itis’… I am going to have him watch this as I’d rather not nag him…
It takes a tiny bit to realize they are using clunking old boxy dial phones instead of having little slabtoys like we use now under the table edge… that’s what makes the boxy phones all that more fun.

The image of those boxy phones in the middle of the table. Classic lol.

Rather amusing, but I probably would have enjoyed it more if the brief opening credit didn’t include a dog relieving itself full-squat on the front lawn. That image kind of follows you to the end of the piece.
