“There are some basic, fundamental rules to life and personal relationships- and that the poised will someday be victorious over the tacky heathens of the world!”
That was incredible. I watched with slackened jaw at 2:00 and 3:00. I haven’t even seen Cirque du Soleil do things like that. Those dancers/acrobats are incredible.

How on earth do you rehearse something like that? He has to be fully aware of where her feet are to support her, and she has to be totally aware of his muscles to find the right spot to put her feet. More than an ordinary ballet. But if there are mats below to soften any falls, that throws off the stances. Amazing.

If you look carefully, you will notice a “spotter” at some of the really tricky parts. He wears white and stands behind the couple, so he’s not obtrusive, but there are some safety measures in place.
These young women start training at a very early age, and do nothing else. The State pays for their education and their training.
That being said, it is still absolutely astonishing! Simply beyond words. Bravo!
I take ballet, and I just can’t even begin to try and wrap my head around this. How!!!?

Part of me can appreciate the beauty of this, but part of me is really uncomfortable watching this. It looks painful and incredibly dangerous!

That takes “trusting your partner” to a whole other level. Most people can’t even do that on a solid floor, let alone standing on someone else.

I worked with this circus group for 4 months. Must have seen that performance dozens of times. That was in 2002 whenb they won the golden clown in Monte Carlo.
I have worked on 3 circus shows in total, and seen a few more. There were dozens of prize winning acts in them, but to me nothing came close to this act.
As for training, this specific circus group, the Guangdong group, may well be the best circus group in the world. They have more prize winning acts, including several golden clowns, then any other group.
As stated before, they already start training at a young age, but not only that, they also train all day long. If you go to the hallway in the hotel they are staying in the morning, you will find people standing on their hands for half an hour (while reading a book) just for exercise for example. Then they have the official training in the afternoon, and furthermore it is the only group I worked with that also does cooldown and training for half an hour after a show.
